My Amazing Recipes

My grandson’s love food and they love to eat Puff Pastry. I’m G’ma to five grand kids. I have two teenage girls 23 and 21 they hardly eat anything, one nineteen year old grandson as tall as a skyscraper and a very good basketball player. And he will eat any and everything that isn’t nailed down. Let’s not forget my last two grandsons I call them my old men King 10 years old and TJ 12 years old.

My Amazing Recipes

Since I retired and their grandmother on their father side is incapacitated due to knee injury, I have been task with making them breakfast and getting them to school on time. Before I moved in with them in February, my daughter would bring them over early in the morning and I would always ponder about what to make for them for breakfast. They would always ask for the weirdest things.

King, my 10 year old would ask for Hot Ramen noodles, runny eggs over easy and dry toast with coffee and TJ my 12 year old would ask for coffee, sausage scrambled eggs and waffles with whipped cream. I am used to living alone and all of this was new for me…especially making coffee for them. You see their grandmother on their father side gave them both coffee everyday even before they were toddlers. So now anything with the flavor of coffee brings them joy.

So I decided that I would find something that they both would eat for breakfast. When they saw what I took out of the oven they were a bit apprehensive but oh boy when they took the first bite all I could here is G’ma this is “off the chain”. Over the weekend I watched a lot of breakfast videos on YouTube and decided I would try puff pastry, it looked like something that we could have a lot of fun with. And I could put whatever I wanted in it. It could be something sweet or savory.

I went to the grocery store and picked up some puff pastry sheets and more breakfast gems I knew they would enjoy. Sunday afternoon I practiced working with the puff pastry, since this was my first time, and it seemed simple enough.

The recipe below was my first one with a combination egg, cheese, sausage and coffee infused and it was actually very delicious and they actually loved it.

They ask me, G’ma can WE make it again? So this time they wanted to help me make the pastries. That’s why the puff pastry recipes change into so many different recipes.

TJ made his with scrambled eggs, cheese, sausage and coffee flavoring. He really, really loves coffee. That’s another story for another timer. King made his puff pastry with peanut butter and apple and grape jelly. After we got it rolled up and drenched it with the egg wipe, then we popped his in the oven and as it was cooking he went to check on it and him screamed so loud I thought he burned himself.

He was so excited to see the peanut butter ooze out the side of the puff pastry, he did realize he had screamed so loudly. TJ and I came running to see why he was screaming. When we found out it was the peanut butter oozing out of the puff pastry we cracked up laughing, it was soo funny. We still laugh about it.
